The Future Of Health Care Leadership is Here

LeaderShift is the exciting, new cross-sector initiative that gives current and emerging leaders in community and primary health care a rare opportunity to develop their leadership capacity, ignite cross-sector collaboration, and play an important role in shaping the future of our health care system.

LeaderShift is the vision of Community Health Ontario (CHO). This alliance of four provincial associations believes that leaders in community and primary health care are well-positioned to make a critical contribution to an improved and more integrated health system.  Working collaboratively for over a year, the CHO Executives laid the groundwork and secured funding for this bold project which aims to:
  • Foster linkages between community and primary health care organizations
  • Build leadership capability at all levels through cross-sector learning opportunities
  • Encourage leadership renewal as existing leaders prepare to retire
  • Inspire active leadership in system transformation

Community Health Ontario (CHO) is comprised of:
  • Addictions and Mental Health Ontario
  • Alliance for Healthier Communities
  • Canadian Mental Health Association, Ontario
  • Ontario Community Support Association

Early in the planning, the CHO Executives were thrilled to invite on the project partner
  • Association of Family Health Teams of Ontario

The centrepiece of this initiative is the LEADS Learning Series — Canada’s gold standard in health leadership development. Over the next two years, LeaderShift will deliver 22 cohorts of the LEADS Learning Series across Ontario and will also build and strengthen leadership through e-learning, a leadership conference, and more.

Using the LEADS framework, adapted specifically to a community and primary health care setting, participants of LeaderShift will build their capacity to:
  • Lead their organization and teams more effectively
  • Strengthen partnerships and cross-sector collaboration
  • Further improve the health and vitality of their communities
  • Contribute to future of the health care system
